In a country where a good education is nearly impossible to come by, Asian Hope is privileged to provide a top quality education to many children who may not otherwise have access to any education at all.
The situation is dire:
- 5% of elementary school teachers have graduated from High School
- 40% of women are illiterate
- Only 4% of young women graduate from High School keeping them trapped in a cycle of poverty and at greater risk for exploitation.
Many Cambodian children can only attend school a few hours a day, and some not at all, so that they can work to earn money for their families. The children who are fortunate enough to attend public schools are required to pay ‘extra tuition’ to their teachers in order to participate. School supplies, school clothes, and money for teachers are in short supply, making it difficult, if not impossible for children and families to alter the cycle of poverty and brokenness.
By Gods grace, and with help from people like you, each student you see on the following pages is being liberated from a life of crushing poverty. The life changing education they are receiving will help them create a brighter future for themselves, their families, and their community. You can help break the cycle. You can help revitalize Cambodia in the love of Jesus…one child at a time!
