Sopoan, now 22 years old, was born into a Buddhist family in the Kendal Province. His family was considered the lowest class, and Sopoan found it difficult to be accepted. To make matters worse, when he was just eight years old, his mother died. He spent most of his days just trying to survive.

Eventually, he went to live at a Buddhist temple. After two years of living in the temple, he realized that he still could not make sense of the tragedies that he had experienced. Buddhism was just another religion that could not satisfy his heart or mind.

Eventually, his neighbor took him to live at Asian Hope. He arrived to find that it was a Christian orphanage. His initial thought was that Christianity was just another religion that couldn’t satisfy his needs. However, he found himself going through a strange transformation. Even though he still couldn’t explain the tragedies of life, God gave him the peace to be satisfied with where he was and who he is!

Sopoan wants to become an IT Technician. He hopes to use his skills and education to help bring glory to God. He has learned that life is more than just eating to survive; it is that God has a plan and a future for him! Sopoan is a Sophomore at Liberty University. His goal is to return to Cambodia upon completing his degree.
