Bora was born November 22, 1988, in the city of Sambo. At seven, his birth-dad became ill, so they had to move to Kratei where his dad would be cared for. His father eventually had to go to Phnom Penh, capital city of Cambodia, where he could receive better treatment. He came back with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and would not be silent about it. Sadly, he died before Bora’s ninth birthday.
Bora’s birth-mom remarried shortly after that and left him. Bora and his sisters had to be split up because their mom and step-father couldn’t support them. Bora was forced to survive on his own with a sling shot and a lighter in Kratei until the age of ten and a half.
Bora eventually moved to Phnom Penh. There he was introduced to Asian Hope, where his sister was staying. On his sister’s birthday, she asked for Bora and her other sister to be invited to live at Asian Hope. Almost two years after Bora’s father died, he was finally able to live with his family again, and begin the process of being a part of a whole new family.
While living at the Children’s Home, a ministry of Asian Hope, Bora learned what it meant to have a relationship with Jesus and how to read the Bible. He was enrolled into the Asian Hope school system, as well. Bora entered into the seventh grade and remembers crying as he struggled to complete the work.
Those difficult days benefited Bora immensley as he is currently a Sophomore at The Master’s College in California. There he will study to become a pastor because less than one percent of Cambodians are Christian. Upon completing his studies at The Master’s College, Bora will return to Cambodia where he hopes to spread the love of God to his fellow countrymen. Understanding the challenge that lies ahead of him, he asks that you pray for him in your daily prayers.
