Asian Hope has been a leader in providing international Christian education in Cambodia at the most affordable cost since 2002. However, the vast majority of Cambodian families cannot afford to send their children to an international school nor can they support the rigorous, English only curriculum. Thus they are left with only the public school system where school teachers have not been adequately educated or prepared and corruption is prevalent.
While the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the foundational need of mankind and thus Cambodians, education is the foundational development need of Cambodia. It is our belief at Asian Hope that Christian education can meet the needs of the current generation of children and revitalize Cambodia with its own people, properly preparing them for nurturing the next generation of Cambodians. To meet this lofty goal, Asian Hope International School opened its doors on January 12, 2010. AHIS is a school for Cambodians, respecting their culture and language while expressing the love of Christ to each family involved.
Asian Hope International School is dedicated to providing a high quality, child-centered education, in a safe and pleasant Christian environment, ensuring that every child feels worthy and appreciated. AHIS is a bi-lingual school for Cambodian children and our classes are taught in English and Khmer, helping the children to appreciate and retain their own culture, while being prepared to take their place as leaders in the global community. Teaching is done from a Christian world view but always in a very open and nonpressured atmosphere, recognizing that the children come from different religious backgrounds.
Currently, Asian Hope International School is educating 30+ students in grades Pre-K3 through Kindergarten. In August 2010 AHIS plans to add a developmental program for two-year olds and their caregivers as well as Grade 1 and possibly Grade 2.
Your gift toward funding the equipment, furniture and curriculum costs of starting the new grades ($21,500 USD) will go a long way toward helping us achieve our mission of shaping well-equipped, moral Cambodian leaders able to revitalize their own country in the love of Christ.
