KC International School
Early in Asian Hope’s ministry, it became evident that the Asian Hope children would not receive an adequate education from the public school system. The children would return from the public schools requesting money for the teacher in order to give proper instruction or to receive favorable marks. Unfortunately public school teachers in Cambodia are paid as little as $30/month and are overwhelmingly underequipped and undereducated.
Asian Hope acquired KC International School in the spring of 2000 and enrolled most the Asian Hope children into the very small existing student population. Quickly the school’s enrollment filled up and its focus shifted to the pre-primary grades.
The acquisition of KC International resulted in a vision expansion to include serving Cambodian children outside of the children’s home by providing quality, affordable or free, Christian education. Today, KC International educates pre-school children aged 3 through Kindergarten. The 135+ children attending KC International receive an excellent education on par with North American schools and based on Christian values.
A broad community need for excellent education became very evident when Asian Hope was approached by missionary families, expatriate families and local Khmer families about providing a school for children beyond Pre-school. To address this need, as well as the educational needs of the older Asian Hope children, a second school was opened in the fall of 2002, Logos International School.
