Sample Support Letter
Dear friend,
In the late 70’s, a communist regime massacred one third of the population of Cambodia. The Communists tried to rid the country of all educated people. This terrible occurrence has crippled Cambodia. More than 50% of the population is under the age of 21. Less than 5% of primary school teachers have graduated from high school.
Cambodia needs leaders to rise up and revitalize their country. They need help socially, economically, politically and spiritually in order to overcome the devastating effects of the Khmer Roug
Asian Hope (www.asianhope.org) is an organization in Cambodia that seeks to meet this need. It oversees two children’s homes that have raised over thirty orphans, and two schools educating over 400 students each year from preschool through high school! Each student is given the truth of Jesus, coupled with a quality education and invaluable experiences needed to become leaders in Cambodia!
These children, some of which were homeless on the streets, are now dreaming of becoming doctors, nurses, teachers, pastors, businessmen and members of the military. They are learning that God has a plan and a future for them and their country!
On (Insert the date and course of the golf marathon event), I will be participating in the 3rd Annual Asian Hope Golf Marathon. I will play 100 holes of golf that day! By supporting my efforts in this event, you will help Asian Hope educate children in Cambodia who aspire to revitalize their country.
I’m sure you can understand why I financially support this unique and incredibly important outreach, and ask that you will, too. I am committed to raising $2,500 through sponsors for this event. As little as: $25, $50, or $75 each month goes a long way!
Contributions are tax-deductible, and any amount will be greatly appreciated. Simply mark the appropriate box on the response card, and you will be billed after the event…….if I survive!
